SL28 & SL34 — Kenya's Benchmark Varieties

SL28 and SL34 are Scott Laboratory selections developed in the 1930s that define Kenya's coffee identity. SL28 thrives at higher altitudes and contributes blackcurrant and citrus intensity, while SL34 adds floral complexity and full body. Together they produce the vibrant acidity and sweetness Kenya AA is world-renowned for.

Origin & Processing

Kieni Factory · Mugaga FCS

Kieni AA 14IM0018 offers tart acidity, a juicy body, and excellent overall balance with floral and black tea notes. Produced at the Kieni Factory by roughly 900–1,000 smallholder farmers situated at elevations of 1,600 to 1,800 MASL. The factory benefits from the region's cool climate and fertile volcanic soils. Processed using Kenya's washed method with double fermentation, then sun-dried on raised beds for a clean, expressive cup.
