Kenya AA — Specialty Grade
NYANJA AA
SL28 & SL34 — Kenya's Benchmark Varieties
SL28 and SL34 are Scott Laboratory selections developed in the 1930s that define Kenya's coffee identity. SL28 thrives at higher altitudes and contributes blackcurrant and citrus intensity, while SL34 adds floral complexity and full body. Together they produce the vibrant acidity and sweetness Kenya AA is world-renowned for.
Origin & Processing
Nyanja Factory · Baragwi FCS
Located on the southern slopes of Mt. Kenya near the town of Kianaga, Nyanja Factory is part of the Baragwi Farmers' Cooperative Society (FCS), founded in 1953 and today supporting over 11,700 smallholder farmers. The cooperative provides centralized processing through 12 wet mills, including Nyanja, at 1,610 MASL. Coffee is fully washed — freshly harvested cherries are sorted for ripeness, depulped, fermented, washed, and sun-dried on raised beds, preserving the clarity and vibrancy that Kenyan coffees are world-renowned for.
